Lecture is in French with consecutive translation in Russian and Russian Sign language.

The criticism of chronology structuring art museums is growing with the rediscovery of Aby Warburg’s method leading to analogical thinking. Art history is only one of the possible interpretation of art. Artists want to stimulate sensations and emotions using visual thinking beyond language. At the lecture Jean-Hubert Marten will speak about how in the age of globalization, museums try to find new classifications corresponding to our daily use of images.

Jean-Hubert Martin (France) – curator, art historian, was director of the Kunsthalle Bern, the National Modern Art Museum of the Pompidou Center, the National Museum of African and Oceanic Arts in Paris and the Museum Kunst Palast in Düsseldorf. Curator of the famous exhibitions as Paris - Berlin (1978), Paris - Moscow (1979), Magiciens de la Terre (1989), Carambolages (2016) etc.

This lecture is held under the program Laboratory for the Moving Images Study, a joint project of the Pushkin.Youth and Pushkin XXI.
