Charles-François Daubigny
Village of Portejoie on the Seine (Banks of the Seine. Triel). 1868

The picture belongs to a series of landscapes painted during the artist's travels along the banks of the Seine and Oise in a boat converted into a floating studio. The flock of birds on the river in the foreground of the composition was a favorite motif of Daubigny's during his Barbizon period.
