Pablo Picasso
Violin. 1912

In the summer and early autumn of 1912 Picasso produced a series of Cubist paintings of musical instruments. The Violin represents the transition from the artist's early analytical works to synthetic Cubism. The abstract image of the musical instrument made up of geometrical figures is designed in an elegant, oval format and acquires an almost decorative refinement.
